Oh Susannah Appears at Kennedy Center

The popular children's entertainer and Silver Spring resident, OH SUSANNAH (singer/songwriter/guitarist Susan McNelis), has been selected to perform two shows at the "Open House Arts Festival" at the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts on the afternoon of Sunday, September 10. Get on your feet and dance your way down to the Kennedy Center to experience OH SUSANNAH! She will perform on the Concert Hall Millennium Stage from 12:15-12:45 PM and on the American Film institute Stage from 3:45-4:30 PM. With traditional favorites and originals from Charleston to waltz, zydeco to tango, each song suggests a different style of dance, so there's a wonderful variety that whole families can enjoy together. Also, in response to the anxious requests of her many fans, these shows will be the debut performance of ten brand new songs. The Open House Arts Festival is free and is a great opportunity to introduce your children to the wonders the Kennedy Center has to offer. SUSANNAH SAYS: It was a little intimidating auditioning at the Kennedy Center. There were many people in formal attire playing classical music. Then there was me dancing the tango with a life-sized puppet singing "Home on the Range". But these are the times our children will remember... when we all danced around together being silly or dramatic, when we waltzed on the tops of Daddy's feet or tangoed down the hall around the corner with Mommy or the nights we got out all the instruments, tupperware and wooden spoons in the house and played along with the music. Join me on September 10th and we'll make a few such joyous moments.
