Oh Susannah wins an international songwriting award in Hollywood!

The Washington D.C. area's favorite children's entertainer, Oh Susannah (singer/songwriter Susan McNelis), has just won the Second Place Award at the Just Plain Folks Music Awards in the Best Children's Song category for "The Cats Go Marching" from her release "Sing-Song: Music for Children and Families". The prestigious Just Plain Folks 2002 Music Awards were presented in Hollywood on March 1, 2003. Just Plain Folks is now the largest music organization in the world, with over 20,000 international members. 101,000 songs were entered in the competition by member songwriters and award nominees received coveted invitations to attend the ceremony. The top finalists received award certificates and took part in an L.A. studio session to record the organization's new theme song and celebrate their accomplishments. Oh Susannah also performed her song at the award showcase before an enthusiastic audience of industry professionals. Susannah says,"As a brand new member of Just Plain Folks, I was surprised and delighted to learn that "The Cats Go Marching" had been chosen out of thousands as a nominee for Best Children's Song. When I attended the awards festivities, I was amazed by the caliber of the competition. As the Second Place Winner, I am so happy and proud to be part of this group of truly wonderful songwriters and performers.
